What One 90 sq ft Wallpaper Wall Costs in Bengaluru, Roll by Roll
Take the wall behind a bed: 10 ft wide and 9 ft high, so 90 sq ft. A standard Indian roll is 0.53 m wide and 10 m long, which is 57 sq ft. NoBroker's Bangalore price page, updated 9 September 2026, lists a vinyl roll at Rs 1,100 to Rs 2,300, a fabric roll at Rs 1,700 to Rs 2,800 and a 3D roll at Rs 3,400 to Rs 4,500.
The wall needs 2 rolls in plain vinyl and 3 in a large-repeat design, for reasons the next section works out. Add labour and wall prep. One Bengaluru guide puts fitting at Rs 8 to Rs 20 per sq ft and wall prep at Rs 5 to Rs 12. NoBroker puts labour at Rs 20 to Rs 40. Across both, labour plus prep on 90 sq ft runs Rs 1,170 to Rs 4,680.
That gives Rs 3,370 to Rs 9,280 for vinyl, Rs 4,570 to Rs 10,280 for fabric-backed and Rs 11,370 to Rs 18,180 for 3D on three rolls. Our own published Whitefield band for a vinyl feature wall is Rs 90 to Rs 220 per sq ft, which is Rs 8,100 to Rs 19,800 on the same wall. It sits above the open-market build-up because it is the figure we quote for a finished wall on a branded roll, and the low end of the build-up assumes an unbranded roll on a sound wall.
Our published Bengaluru bedroom budget sheet for a 200 sq ft room lists the accent wall or wallpaper line at Rs 8,000 to Rs 15,000 in the budget tier, Rs 15,000 to Rs 30,000 in mid-range and Rs 30,000 to Rs 60,000 in premium. Those figures cover a wall that is designed, not just papered.
Clients ask what one wall costs and expect a per sq ft answer. The number that decides the bill is a whole number of rolls, and nobody tells them that until the quote arrives.

Why the Same Wall Is Quoted at Rs 20 and Rs 200 Per Sq Ft
Ask three sources what wallpaper costs and you get three answers. NoBroker prices vinyl at Rs 20 to Rs 40 per sq ft. Asian Paints' cost guide gives Rs 50 to Rs 200 for vinyl and Rs 200 to Rs 500 for 3D. A Bengaluru guide quotes Rs 23 to Rs 47 for basic PVC with fitting included. That is a 10 times spread on the same product.
The spread has a plain cause. Some figures are material only, some include fitting, and the roll itself is described as 57 sq ft by NoBroker, about 50 sq ft by Asian Paints and 30 sq ft by Interior Company in its worked example. A price of Rs 1,700 per roll is Rs 30 per sq ft on the first count and Rs 57 on the last. So before comparing two quotes, ask for the roll size, the number of rolls and whether fitting and wall prep sit inside the figure.
Strips per roll, not square feet per roll
Wallpaper is hung in vertical strips, so a roll yields a whole number of them. Our 10 ft wall is 3.05 m across, which needs 6 strips of 0.53 m. A 9 ft wall is 2.74 m high. On a 10 m roll a plain design gives 3 strips, so 6 strips take 2 rolls. Area alone would say 1.6 rolls, so the rounding is where money hides.

The table is our arithmetic on a straight match, with the strip length rounded up to a whole repeat. A 0.90 m repeat pushes the 2.74 m strip to 3.60 m, so a roll gives only 2 strips and the wall needs 3 rolls. Wallcover notes that a large pattern can waste up to a full strip per roll, and advises 10 percent extra on plain designs and 1 to 2 spare rolls from the same batch. On a Rs 1,100 to Rs 2,300 vinyl roll, moving from a 0.64 m to a 0.90 m repeat adds Rs 1,100 to Rs 2,300 to the wall, before any change in design or brand.

Backing decides whether the paper survives a Bengaluru monsoon. The Bangalore guide we read does not recommend paper-backed rolls for the monsoon because of peeling and bubbling, and puts good vinyl or non-woven at 7 to 10 years in Bangalore homes. NoBroker says vinyl lasts over 10 years with care, and Asian Paints, Livspace and Interior Company all say up to 15 years. Our own published Whitefield figure for a vinyl feature wall is 5 to 8 years, the lowest of all the guides.
The wall matters more than the roll. Asian Paints says wallpaper should never go on a damp wall and that any leak or crack is treated first. A supplier guide from MagicDecor asks for a moisture-resistant primer that dries for 24 to 48 hours before the paper goes up. Wall prep is Rs 5 to Rs 12 per sq ft, so Rs 450 to Rs 1,080 on 90 sq ft. That is the line most often missing from a low quote.
Our published guidance for Whitefield living rooms is that vinyl wallpaper works in dry zones and should stay off the wall behind the kitchen, where steam reaches it. The same logic keeps it off a bathroom splash zone. Damp treatment behind the wall is the seventh item below and the only one that none of the guides we read prices, so ask for it in writing.

Buying price is the wrong test for a feature wall, because the three finishes last different lengths of time. We divide our published per sq ft band by its published life. Vinyl wallpaper at Rs 90 to Rs 220 for 5 to 8 years works out to Rs 11 to Rs 44 per sq ft per year. Pre-laminated fluted MDF at Rs 180 to Rs 320 for 8 to 12 years comes to Rs 15 to Rs 40. Standard emulsion at Rs 22 to Rs 32 all in, repainted every 3 to 5 years, is Rs 4 to Rs 11.
On 90 sq ft that is roughly Rs 1,010 to Rs 3,960 a year for wallpaper, Rs 1,350 to Rs 3,600 for fluted MDF and Rs 400 to Rs 960 for paint. The 3 to 5 year repaint cycle is NoBroker's figure, not ours. Wallpaper does not beat paint on cost per year. It earns its place through pattern, and it roughly ties a panel per year while costing about half as much up front.

Does papering a whole 10 by 12 bedroom cost four times one wall?
Very nearly. The room has 44 ft of perimeter and 396 sq ft of wall before doors and windows. That needs 26 strips, which is 9 plain vinyl rolls, against 2 for one wall. Rolls cost Rs 9,900 to Rs 20,700 and labour plus prep Rs 5,150 to Rs 20,600, so the room lands at Rs 15,050 to Rs 41,300, about 4.5 times one wall.
Can wallpaper go behind the kitchen hob or in a bathroom in Bengaluru?
We keep it off both. Our published guidance is that vinyl wallpaper works in dry zones and stays clear of the kitchen wall where steam reaches it. NoBroker lists vinyl as suitable for kitchens and bathrooms, while Asian Paints points to moisture-resistant paint for high-moisture areas. Where the two disagree, paint is the cheaper mistake.
Does peel and stick wallpaper make sense in a rented flat?
Often, yes. A Bengaluru guide prices peel and stick at Rs 20 to Rs 58 per sq ft and says doing it yourself saves Rs 8 to Rs 15 per sq ft of fitting. On 90 sq ft that is Rs 720 to Rs 1,350 saved. Our published kids-room advice for rented flats is to use peel and stick instead of paint.
Do I need to buy a spare roll for one wall?
Yes, one. Wallcover advises 1 to 2 spare rolls from the same batch, since a later batch can differ in shade. On a Rs 1,100 to Rs 2,300 vinyl roll that adds Rs 1,100 to Rs 2,300 to the job, and it is the cheapest insurance against a torn strip or a damaged corner.

Where these figures are weak: the totals above are arithmetic on published roll and labour prices. We have not yet papered a wall on its own for a client, so there is no measured job behind them. Roll prices were read in September 2026 and will move. The strip table assumes a straight match and ignores half-drop patterns, which need more paper. The 10 by 12 room ignores door and window cut-outs.
