What a Queen Hydraulic Bed Costs in Bengaluru, From Ply Sheets to Finished Frame
A hydraulic bed is a plywood box under the mattress with a lid that lifts on gas pistons. Its price is set by three lines: plywood, lift kits and carpenter labour. Take a queen frame of 60 by 78 in, which is 5 ft by 6.5 ft or 32.5 sq ft. The bottom panel is 32.5 sq ft and the lift-up top is another 32.5. Four side walls at 10 in high add 19.2 sq ft and a centre divider adds 5.4. With mounting cleats that is about 94 sq ft, or 3 sheets of 8 by 4 ft plywood.
Appleply's Bangalore price page for 2026 puts an 18 mm sheet at Rs 2,200 to Rs 3,800 in commercial MR grade, Rs 3,200 to Rs 5,200 in BWR and Rs 4,800 to Rs 7,500 in BWP marine grade. Solve24's 2026 carpenter guide lists bed labour at Rs 140 to Rs 240 per sq ft, which on 32.5 sq ft is Rs 4,550 to Rs 7,800. Lift kits are covered in a later section. This is our arithmetic on those published prices, not a measured job.

These totals exclude the laminate or veneer, a headboard, polish, transport and GST. Solve24 also gives a with-material bed rate of Rs 1,100 to Rs 1,900 per sq ft, which on 32.5 sq ft is Rs 35,750 to Rs 61,750. All three numbers agree, and the gap of roughly Rs 21,000 to Rs 33,000 between the bare build-up and the finished price is finish, headboard and margin.
Ready-made frames sit in the same band. Among 8 plywood queen and king hydraulic beds on IndiaMART's Bengaluru listing, prices run from Rs 26,000 to Rs 72,000 with a median near Rs 34,000. A hydraulic bed is a box with a lid, and the lid is the expensive part. Plywood is cheap, lifting a 32 sq ft lid safely is not.

Storage claims for hydraulic beds swing wildly, and our own pages have not been consistent, so here is the arithmetic. Start with the queen: a plywood well of 18 mm sides leaves a clear space of about 58 by 76 in. At a 10 in depth that is 44,080 cubic inches, or 25.5 cubic feet. The centre divider and the lift arms take about 10 percent, which leaves about 23 cubic feet.
Where does 40 come from? Our JP Nagar bedroom guide quotes roughly 40 cubic feet for a 6 by 6 ft hydraulic bed. That is a king at 72 by 72 in with a 13 in well: 67,392 cubic inches, or 39 cubic feet. It is correct for that frame and wrong for a queen. Our guest room guide gave 8 to 10 cubic feet for a box-storage frame in a smaller room, which fits side drawers.
Take two drawers of 34 by 22 in with a 7 in clear height: 3 cubic feet each, so 6 in all. Every extra inch of well adds about 2.5 cubic feet on a queen but raises the mattress by an inch. A well of 23 cubic feet is roughly what a suitcase set, two duvets and off-season bedding need.
The Lift Kit: Rs 475 to Rs 2,814, and What Its Load Rating Really Covers
The kit is the only moving part, and supplier listings on IndiaMART and Hardware Depot show how wide its price runs. A set from Tajpuria rated at 120 kg is listed at Rs 475, Easylift at 150 kg is Rs 550, and the Ebco Pro-Lift at 120 to 200 kg is Rs 615. At the top, Hepo's 1500 mm kit is Rs 2,814, and Ebco's electric bed fitting is Rs 20,996 for buyers who want a motor.

The load rating is the number to read. Listings run from 80 kg to 200 kg per set, and the lid carries a plywood panel and a mattress. One kit serves a single lid, and a split-lid queen needs two, which is why the build-up table above uses 1 to 2 sets. Ask the supplier to rate the kit against your mattress and lid, and do not accept under 120 kg for a queen. The Rs 475 kit and the Rs 2,814 kit look identical when the lid is shut.
Insaraf and Furnishka both put piston life at 5 to 8 years with regular use, so budget one replacement set at Rs 475 to Rs 2,814 rather than a new bed. I would spend the extra Rs 2,000 or so on the better kit at the start.

Insaraf puts a hydraulic bed at Rs 18,000 to Rs 60,000 and a box or drawer bed at Rs 12,000 to Rs 45,000 across India. Furnishka gives Rs 20,000 to Rs 65,000 and Rs 12,000 to Rs 40,000. Between them the hydraulic bed sits Rs 6,000 to Rs 25,000 above drawers.

The choice is a floor plan question. A drawer bed needs clear floor beside it for the drawers to slide. In a 10 by 12 ft room, where a queen already leaves a walking floor of only a few feet, that side clearance often does not exist. Daily items favour drawers, and bulky seasonal items favour the well.
Pay the premium if the room is small and the items are bulky. If you reach into storage every morning, buy drawers and save Rs 6,000 to Rs 25,000.

Most failures are foreseeable. The first is mattress thickness. Our JP Nagar guide notes that mattresses run 7 to 8 in and that thicker ones can interfere with the frame. A lid that has to lift a 10 in mattress meets the headboard sooner and the piston fights the extra weight. Measure the mattress you already own before you fix the frame height.
The second is damp. A closed plywood well in a ground-floor room or near an external wall traps humid air through the monsoon. Bangalore's plywood price guide notes that price and grade reflect the humid monsoon climate, and that is the argument for BWR at least. MR grade is the cheapest board in the table, and it is the one that swells first. The saving is Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,200 on three sheets, and it is not worth it under a bed that will stay shut for months.
The third is the split. A queen lid in one piece is heavy and awkward for one person, so I would ask for two lids of about 30 in with a kit each. That doubles the kit cost but is easier to lift.
Last, the finish. The Rs 21,000 to Rs 33,000 gap between the build-up and the finished price is where quality lives: an edge-banded lid, laminate inside the well so cloth does not snag, and a padded stop so the lid never drops on a hand. Ask for these to be listed on the quote line by line.

The 10 in depth, 10 percent loss and 7 in drawer height are my assumptions and change the cubic feet. Solve24's bed rate is an all-India figure.
